RE-ELECT GARY FLOWER FOR
DUVAL COUNTY COURT JUDGE
ABOUT ME
Hon. Gary P. Flower is a judge for the Duval County Court in the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jeb Bush in 2000.
Prior to his appointment, Flower worked for two years as a magistrate and child support hearing officer (1998 to 2000) with the Fourth Judicial Circuit. Before that, he handled civil and criminal law matters as a partner in a mid-sized law firm. Flower has also taught as an adjunct professor at the Florida Coastal School of Law.
Flower received a B.A. from Jacksonville University in 1982. He went on to complete a J.D. at Stetson University College of Law in 1987.
After graduating from law school, Flower began his legal career as an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit. During his tenure there, he held assignments in the Special Prosecution Division and the Repeat Offender Court. He also sat as Division Chief of Civil Forfeiture.
He was a chair of education for the Conference of County Court Judges, co-department head of the Advanced Colleges of Judicial Studies, and a member of the video faculty of the Florida Judicial College. In addition, Flower was involved with Leadership Florida, Leadership Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Historical Society Board, the Police Athletic League Board, and the Rotary Club of Jacksonville. He also served as assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop 277.
A history buff, Flower enjoys searching for artifacts at Revolutionary and Civil War sites along the East Coast. He has discovered over four hundred artillery shells using his metal detectors. He donates all of his finds to local museums.
